Vegetable tanning is the earliest tanning method, using tanning agents extracted from plants, such as tannic acid. The tanning process involves repeatedly immersing the hide in different concentrations of tanning solution for one to two months. Vegetable-tanned leather is free from harmful chemical components like heavy metals and can be in direct contact with the skin, while retaining the leather's natural texture.
