Fees

Unlike other marketplaces, setting up a shop on Pinkoi and listing products are completely free. Nonetheless, to maintain Pinkoi's platforms, a small transaction fee is collected for every order. Pinkoi only collects a percentage when you sell something.

Pinkoi customers can pay online using credit/debit card, PayPal, Alipay, WeChat Pay, Tenpay, and LINE Pay. In addition, customers in Taiwan and Japan can use other payment methods (see below).

Depending on the payment method used by a customer for an order, Pinkoi collects different transaction fees. The transaction fee is a combination of a selling fee and payment processing fee:

    1) Selling fee: 10% of the item total and shipping fee
    2) Payment processing fee: 5% of the item total and shipping fee + NT$10

    1) Selling fee: 10% of the item total
    2) Payment processing fee: NT$15

    1) Selling fee: 10% of the item total and shipping fee
    2) Payment processing fee: either 5% of the item total and shipping fee, or JP¥160 (whichever is the higher amount)
    ※ Transaction Fee = either 15% of the item total and shipping fee, or 10% of the item total and shipping fee + JP¥160
    Japan convenience stores: Lawson, FamilyMart, Sunkus, Circle K, Ministop, Daily Yamazaki, Seicomart, and Three F.

When an item is sold, the payment first goes into Pinkoi's corporate account. Pinkoi calculates the sales revenue of shops (for a calendar month) on the 10th of the following month. Then on the 20th, Pinkoi transfers the sales revenue minus transaction fees (and 5% business tax on transaction fees) to shops. If the 20th is a weekend or public holiday, the revenue will be transferred on the next business day. Pinkoi provides sales statements for designers/sellers to review, download, and save.

Pinkoi only transfers a shop's sales revenue if the amount is at least NT$1,000 (after transaction fees). If the amount is lower than NT$1,000, Pinkoi will wait until the amount reaches NT$1,000 before making a transfer. This is because there is a NT$45 payment transfer fee per transfer. Therefore, the threshold prevents shops from being charged transfer fees on low revenues.

What can be sold on Pinkoi?

As Pinkoi is a curated marketplace, we examine all shop applications before giving out shop usernames and passwords. We accept applications to sell 3 types of products:

    Original design: a product that is designed and/or created by a designer (or their team/manufacturer). Its design should show originality. The product should not be listed as a prohibited item in the Allowed & Prohibited Items policy.
  2. 2
    Authorized representation: a product that is designed by someone else, but the designer or brand owner/company has signed a document stating that you are an authorized seller of that product.
  3. 3
    10+ year-old vintage: a product that is graced with age (10+ years), in good condition, and rare.

Responsibilities

Shop management After receiving the shop username and password, designers/sellers set up their own shop: Upload shop banners, input shipping fees, upload product photos and descriptions, answer customer inquiries, and process orders.
Online support Managed by sellers.
Agreement signing When signing into their shop the first time, designers/sellers will see the Pinkoi Shop Agreement. Designers/sellers need to read and sign this Agreement before entering their shop.
Shipping Sellers are responsible for shipping their products to customers.
Exposure No paid advertisement is supported on Pinkoi's website, Facebook Page, or online campaigns. However, Pinkoi's teams frequently pick products according to themes and provide free exposure in this manner. Therefore, be sure to look out for opportunities to participate in Pinkoi Zine articles, Monthly Picks, or events.
Fees

Returns / exchanges Designers/sellers should process these in accordance with Pinkoi's Returns Policy.
Sales Statement Pinkoi provides at least 7 months of sales statements for designers/sellers to review, download, and save.
Receiving payments Pinkoi will transfer monthly sales revenue to designers/sellers on the 20th of the following month (minus transaction fees and its sales tax). For example, the sales revenue of 1–31 May will be transferred on June 20th.

Effective selling

It's difficult to predict how quickly your products will sell without assessing case by case. What we can do, however, is to give you a few tips on how to reach a sale:

    Keep listing new products. Keep old listings updated. Active shops usually get noticed, keep customers, and grow steadily.
  2. 2
    Participate in Pinkoi-run marketing activities and craft fairs. Active participants usually get more exposure.
  3. 3
    Use real-setting photos, and compelling product descriptions. These are crucial for being distinguished from the crowd.
  4. 4
    Keep prices reasonable and offer a wide price range of products. Customers tend to buy lower-priced items for their first purchases, so include a few lower-priced products to attract new customers. If a customer loves these products, they will come back for more!

    Application Fill in Open a Shop and allow Pinkoi to fall in love with your designs. Before submitting the application, please do take time to consult the Pinkoi Handbook. The Handbook discusses tips on taking quality photos, packaging techniques, and stories from established brands.

    Evaluation Pinkoi takes the time to carefully examine all applications. Due to the high volume of applications received, we cannot respond to all applications directly. Only successful applicants will be notified. If designers/sellers did not receive a response, they should check their email junk folder or examine whether their products conform to the Allowed & Prohibited Items policy.

Final note

Pinkoi strictly forbids under-the-table selling as well as listing violations of the Allowed & Prohibited Items policy. We have invested to make Pinkoi a presence in Asia and the world, so that more people can see great designs—like yours!
