Originally produced by the Eberhard Faber company from 1934 to 1988, this pencil gained renown not only for its elegant design and smooth writing experience but also for being the favored tool of many renowned contemporary writers and artists.
-
The Blackwing pencils we use today are meticulously recreated by Palomino in the United States. It is said that the formulation for the eraser and graphite core remains true to the original, perfectly reviving this once-celebrated pencil.
-
In addition to the iconic 602, Palomino has introduced several pencils with different graphite grades to cater to a wide range of enthusiasts. Based on our testing and comparison, the black pencil has a graphite hardness of approximately 4B, the white pencil is around 2B, the grey 602 is a B, and the natural wood color is HB. Due to the softer nature of their graphite, each pencil delivers excellent depth and concentration.
-
The eraser at the end is another distinctive feature that sets the Blackwing apart from ordinary pencils. It utilizes a small metal ferrule that not only holds the eraser but also allows it to be pushed further out as it wears down, and it offers the ability to be replaced. This ensures the pencil is always ready for both writing and correction.
