**The Most Familiar Assam**
__A tea variety introduced from South Asia, it has taken root over time to become a familiar taste of the land.__
Although originally from India, Assam tea holds the highest popularity among black teas here. It was the variety first introduced to Lugao, setting the stage for the international acclaim of Sun Moon Lake black tea; the famous malt-flavored black tea also originated from Sun Moon Lake Assam, becoming a staple of local life.
For those accustomed to hand-shaken drinks who wish to explore Sun Moon Lake black tea but aren't sure where to start, we recommend beginning with Assam. It is also perfect for preparing as milk tea or vanilla-infused black tea.
This tea bag selection features First Prize autumn Assam, crafted by the tea factory that won the 2024 Sun Moon Lake Black Tea Competition in the Large-Leaf Variety category. It offers notes of malt and ripe fruit sweetness, with a soft, complex profile and a lingering finish.

**Yong Xiang Tea Factory**
__The journey of tea making embarked upon by three young friends__
Many farmers around Sun Moon Lake have inherited ancestral tea gardens. During the recent black tea revival, they established their own tea factories to ensure quality. Drawing on childhood memories and experience, they have gradually defined their unique flavors and styles.
Yong Xiang Tea Factory was founded by three individuals born in the 1980s. Driven by their passion for Sun Moon Lake black tea, they grew through study and experience before striking out on their own. As self-made entrepreneurs, they established the factory to share resources and manage costs.
Beyond contract manufacturing, they have invested significant time and effort into tea competitions, refining production techniques, and developing unique flavor profiles. In recent years, they have garnered numerous awards in local black tea competitions, and in 2024, they secured three championships in the Large-Leaf, Taiwan Tea No. 18, and Taiwan Tea No. 21 categories.
