**Hong Yu No. 18: The Trendsetter**
__After forty years, No. 18 was officially recognized as "Hong Yu" and sparked the Sun Moon Lake black tea craze.__
Hong Yu No. 18 is a hybrid, with a Taiwanese mountain tea father and a Burmese mother. Though born in the early 1950s, it took a long time to gain recognition. It wasn't until 1999, when Hong Yu black tea, with its distinctive mint and cinnamon notes, was formally introduced, that it became an instant hit.
Hong Yu No. 18, with its unique aroma, elicits strong reactions, especially from first-time tasters – they either absolutely love it or find it difficult to appreciate.
Therefore, this selection of Hong Yu No. 18 prioritizes a mellow and smooth experience. We partnered with an organic transition tea garden in Lugu, Yuchi, and a five-star tea processing facility to create a Hong Yu black tea that balances aroma and flavor, offering a comfortable and enduring taste. It's recommended for beginners to No. 18 or those who prefer a less intense minty aroma.

**Yong Xiang Tea Factory**
__Three young individuals embark on a tea-making journey together.__
Many farmers in the Sun Moon Lake area inherit family tea gardens and, during the recent black tea revival, establish their own tea factories to ensure consistent quality. Drawing on childhood memories and experiences, they gradually define their unique flavors and styles during the tea factory's establishment.
Yong Xiang Tea Factory was founded by three individuals born in the 1980s. Driven by their passion for Sun Moon Lake black tea, they gradually became independent through learning and growth. The trio, starting from scratch, built the tea factory together based on shared needs and cost considerations.
Beyond contract processing, they invest significant time and effort in tea competitions, refining processing methods, and exploring new flavors. In recent years, they have consecutively won numerous local black tea competition awards, including three championships in 2024 for Large Leaf Variety, Taiwanese Tea No. 18, and Taiwanese Tea No. 21.

**Cha Shuo Travel's Tea Selection**
__Selected black teas from Lugu, Yuchi.__
Starting with the aspiration to "make Lugu black tea visible," Cha Shuo Travel has collaborated with local small farmers. Through diverse formats such as tea ceremony experiences, crafting activities and workshops, videos, and podcasts, they introduce the local black tea flavors and a century of development, showcasing the stories each farmer wishes to share through tea.
Beginning in 2024, they launched the "Four Major Black Teas for Beginners," selecting the Lugu series black teas most suitable for novice palates that year. From the oldest century-old mountain tea, the familiar Assam, the distinctive Hong Yu, to the Westerners' favorite Ruby, each comes with clear brewing instructions, allowing beginners to easily enjoy fine tea at home. They have also further integrated Nantou's local sustainable agriculture to develop the "Herbal Black Tea" series.
This year, in collaboration with Shan Li Mian, they are launching a tea and cuisine experience for their physical store, blending the century-old craftsmanship and memories of the Sun Moon Lake black tea Lugu region with Taiwanese dim sum, creating a rich and balanced new taste for each other.
