**Hong Yu No. 18: Leading the Trend**
__Forty years after its emergence, No. 18 was officially recognized as "Hong Yu," sparking the Sun Moon Lake black tea craze.__
Hong Yu No. 18 is a hybrid, with a Taiwanese mountain tea father and a mother from Myanmar. Although born in the 1950s, it didn't have the chance to shine until the late 1990s when Hong Yu black tea, with its distinct mint and cinnamon aroma, was officially launched and became an instant hit.
Hong Yu No. 18, with its special fragrance, elicits strong reactions, especially from first-time drinkers – they either love it or can't get used to it.
Therefore, this selection of Hong Yu No. 18 prioritizes a mellow and smooth taste. We found an organic transitional tea garden in Lugu, Yuchi, and a five-star tea factory to produce a Hong Yu black tea with a balanced aroma and flavor, comfortable to drink, and with a long-lasting aftertaste. Recommended for beginners trying No. 18 for the first time, or for those who dislike a strong minty aroma.

**Yong Xiang Tea Factory**
__Three Youths Embark on the Path of Tea Making Together__
Many farmers in the Sun Moon Lake area inherit their family's old tea gardens. In the recent black tea revival wave, they establish their own tea factories to ensure stable quality. Drawing from childhood memories and experiences, they gradually establish their own flavors and styles during the tea factory setup process.
Yong Xiang Tea Factory was co-founded by three individuals born in the 1980s. Driven by their passion for Sun Moon Lake black tea, they gradually became independent through learning and growth. The three, starting from scratch, established the tea factory together based on shared needs and cost considerations.
In addition to contract manufacturing, they invest significant time and effort in tea competitions, refining processing methods, and developing and experimenting with flavors. In recent years, they have consistently won numerous local black tea competition awards. In 2024, they swept three championships: Large Leaf Variety, Taiwan Tea No. 18, and Taiwan Tea No. 21.

**Cha Shuo Travel Selects Tea**
__Selected Black Teas from Lugu, Yuchi__
Starting with the original intention of "making Lugu black tea visible," Cha Shuo Travel has collaborated with local small farmers. Through diverse formats such as tea ceremony experiences, handicraft activities and workshops, videos, and podcasts, they guide people to understand the flavors of local black tea and its development over the past century, showcasing the stories each farmer wishes to tell through tea.
Beginning in 2024, they launched "Four Great Black Teas for Beginners," selecting the most suitable Lugu series black teas for novice drinkers of the year. From the oldest century-old mountain tea, the most familiar Assam, the most distinctive Hong Yu, to the Westerners' favorite Ruby, all are accompanied by clear brewing instructions, allowing beginners to easily enjoy fine tea at home. They have also further integrated Nantou's local friendly agriculture to develop the "Herbal Tea" series.
This year, in collaboration with Shan Li Mian, they launched a physical store's tea and meal experience, combining the century-old craftsmanship and memories of the Sun Moon Lake black tea Lugu production area with Taiwanese dim sum, creating rich and balanced new flavors for each other.
