The Story Behind the Mix Breed Print: Jian Jian’s prints are inspired by Taiwan’s urban landscapes—unnoticed textures like corrugated iron patterns and weathered, rain-worn walls. Mix is a simplified design exercise that tells the story of uniqueness. "Mix" represents those without a defined name, those we affectionately call Xiao Huang, Xiao Hua, Xiao Hei, Xiao Hu. Duo Duo, a white-and-tabby Mix dog, was my companion. On my days off, I would take her for walks along the riverside, watching her wag her tail with joy. Beyond the levee, the world belonged to her. I would release the leash and let her run freely. Every tree and plant in the riverside park seemed to hold a familiar scent, as if she truly belonged there. Hidden stray dogs emerged only at night, surviving in the unseen corners of the city. In a way, we are all Mix—we don’t choose where we come from, and our lives are pieced together from countless fragments, shaping who we are today.
