In 1886, they transitioned to using gold overlay for their jewelry, achieving a refined aesthetic through a thin layer of gold plating. The gold plating used by Krementz jewelers was 30 times thicker than that typically used in the manufacturing of fine jewelry brands. This approach aimed to create a distinct value proposition between costume and fine jewelry.
