He was a prominent Ukiyo-e artist of Japan's late Edo period and a representative figure of the Bunsei culture. At 14, he began learning woodblock printing, and at 18, he studied painting under the Ukiyo-e artist Katsukawa Shunsho, embarking on his long and prolific artistic career. In 1826, to coincide with the growth of domestic tourism in Japan and fueled by his personal affection for Mount Fuji, Hokusai created the landscape series "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji." This series brought him widespread fame, with "Fine Wind, Clear Morning" (also known as "Red Fuji") and "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" being the most renowned. His daughter, Katsushika Ōi, was also a well-known painter. Hokusai was born in the village of Katsushika in eastern Edo and later became the adopted son of a mirror polisher to the shogunate. In his youth, he worked as an apprentice in a lending library, delivering books. In his spare time, he studied painting illustrations, learning from artists such as Shunsho Katsukawa and Sōri Tawaraya. He began publishing his works at 19 and passed away at the venerable age of 90, leaving behind an estimated 35,000 works. | Specifications Dimensions: H25.7 × W36.4 × D0.1 cm Packaging Material: OPP Bag Product Material: Art Paper Quantity: 1 piece Origin: Taiwan
