From Nantou Aowanda. This amber-red oolong boasts a charming hue, crafted using oolong's pan-firing techniques and black tea's fermentation process, making it the most fermented in our oolong series. The interplay of oolong's aroma and black tea's richness creates a sophisticated flavor profile with abundant fruity notes, awaiting your appreciation.
【G McIntosh's Hot Brew Method】
1. Warm the pot: Pour hot water into the teapot to gently warm it, then discard after 30 seconds.
2. Dry aroma: Place an appropriate amount of tea leaves into the pot (enough to thinly cover the bottom, about 7 grams per serving, adjustable to personal preference). Bring the vessel closer to inhale the soothing aroma released by the steam.
3. Awakening steep:
This oolong tea has semi-spherical leaves. Pour 95-100°C hot water into the pot, gently immersing the leaves. Discard the water after about 4-5 seconds. This step loosens the semi-spherical leaves, allowing them to unfurl for better infusion in subsequent steeps.
4. Tasting brew: Pour hot water, cover the pot, and let it steep for approximately 1.5 minutes. Then, pour into a fairness pitcher. It is recommended to collect the tea from the pitcher over 2-3 infusions, blending the qualities of each to enjoy.
5. Subsequent steeps: Each subsequent infusion should last approximately 1.5 to 2 minutes.
* Up to approximately 6 infusions can be made starting from the awakening steep.
We recommend using a clay teapot, as it dissipates heat more slowly, retains warmth better, and provides ample space for the leaves to unfurl.
【Simple Brew for Office Workers】
1. Spread the tea leaves evenly at the bottom of the tea filter.
2. Hang the tea filter on your mug.
3. Head to the pantry, chat with colleagues, and carefully pour about 350cc of 90-95°C hot water.
4. Let it steep for 3-4 minutes until the leaves slightly unfurl and the tea liquor turns reddish. Remove the tea filter and enjoy.
For subsequent infusions, increase the steeping time by 1 minute each time. This method yields 2-3 infusions.
【Tea Pairings & Desserts】
For those who enjoy baking, this highly fermented oolong tea is a wonderful addition to homemade treats!
Grind the tea leaves into a powder. Add 5-6g (adjustable to taste) of tea powder to your toast dough, chiffon cake batter, cookie dough, or pudding mixture. We encourage you to experiment and discover your own delightful creations.
