The Istituto Fotocromo Italiano (IFI) was founded in Florence in 1928 by engineer Vincenzo Balocchi.
In addition to his engineering research, he was also a renowned amateur photographer and had served as the art director for Fratelli Alinari.
-
Today, IFI remains under the leadership of the same family that founded it.
Each product carries an authentic Italian heritage, with every step from material selection, pattern design, to production and printing completed in Italy.
The paper used is also fine Italian art paper, perfectly rendering the printed colors.
This approach continues the long-standing artistic style prevalent in Italy and other European nations.
-
For IFI,
rich nostalgic styles and local characteristics are the main directions for their work.
From opera, cinema, and advertising, to architecture and world literature,
their styles are distinct and all-encompassing.
Their imagery allows us to imagine the atmosphere of bygone eras.
If you are captivated by medieval Europe,
you might find much inspiration in IFI's creations!
