A mandala (MANDALA) is an icon based on Esoteric Buddhist scriptures, depicting a world centered around Dainichi Nyorai, surrounded by various Buddhas and deities.
It symbolizes the state of enlightenment and the truths of the universe, with hundreds of different types.
Mandala is a phonetic translation of the Sanskrit word "maṇḍala," meaning "that which possesses essence" or "essence."
It also means "that which is round."
The geometric design of mandalas has also influenced the fields of art and design.
This kind of art is called mandala art.
This mask features mandala art applied to a fox mask.
The center of the forehead features a lotus flower blooming in the Pure Land, surrounded by intricate patterns.
A mandala is said to have the meaning of a "map connecting the universe and individual consciousness."
The structure, radiating outwards from the center, represents the flow of consciousness from the essence of the soul to the real world, guiding us to fundamental questions such as "What am I?" and "Where do I come from and where am I going?"
The center, like the eye of a storm, is a very calm place, regardless of how much turmoil surrounds it.
It is a place of deep tranquility.
By firmly centering your mind on what matters, you can overcome any difficulty.
This is the strength of being mentally centered (centering).
By feeling the center, your unsettled mind can reduce overthinking, become less swayed by emotions, and return to a state of tranquility and peace.
Wearing a fox mask was once believed to grant divine powers to those possessed, and wearing it was a way to receive that power.
Additionally, foxes are known to eat many mice, so farmers are said to have revered them for pest control.
There is also a theory that the worship of foxes originated from the name of the food deity, "Miketsukami," which was corrupted over time.
Especially for farmers and those involved with food (business prosperity), foxes are considered a revered deity.
Made of FRP (Fiber-Reinforced Plastic)
Acrylic painting
Uses high-quality genuine silk Edo-uchi braid, backed with Japanese paper
Fox face: Approximately 240mm (height) x 160mm (width) (200mm from chin to base of ear). This size is suitable for those with smaller faces or women.
'~OBORO~' fox masks have been purchased by many male customers as well. They are often worn resting on the chin, diagonally on the head, or wrapped around a part of the body, with various ways of wearing them.
Some customers also display them as interior decorations.
Noh masks, for instance, are made small. It seems that "by showing the movement from the chin to the neck, subtle emotions can be conveyed to the viewer."
For this reason, we often receive inquiries about whether larger sizes are made for men. However, we do not currently produce larger sizes.
Smaller sizes also allow for a more condensed expression.
If made to fit a man's face, it would appear disproportionately large when worn. Therefore, '~OBORO~' fox masks are exclusively for women's sizes. We appreciate your understanding.
Weight: Approximately 230g (slight individual differences may occur due to handmade nature).
This is a wearable mask. Please check your face size.
Made of FRP, it is resistant to light impact and will not break easily.
A box is not included.
If you require a box, please purchase a separate box (for fox masks).
*The final photo, although from a different work, shows the method of attaching the cords to the back of the mask.
Currently, all of '~OBORO~' masks have the cords adhered to the mask (integrated type).
This is the result of pursuing aesthetic beauty by eliminating the annoyance of cords touching the face on the back of the mask.
However, this means you cannot replace the cords with your own.
If you wish to do so, you would need to request a repair service.
If you prefer the older model (where the mask and cords are not integrated), please
consult us. Production will begin after your order, and we will deliver the older model.
Production typically takes about two weeks.
We appreciate your understanding.
