The Ruffle Shirt: Circles and Smiles Like Flowers
This design began as a small sample in February.
As I envisioned it,
I wanted the shirt to possess even more intricate details.
So, I sketched circles onto the front placket,
imagining two layers of fabric,
with a shape reminiscent of flowers,
ideally with a sense of movement, as if they could fly.
My imagination took flight.
The first prototype was crafted from an old piece of white fabric.
It was a bit cold then,
so I made it long-sleeved.
////
The sample production process had its share of challenges.
For instance,
how to seamlessly join the two layers of fabric?
How to achieve the desired ruffle shape and length?
These discussions and revisions spanned an entire season.
Finally, the short-sleeved version was completed.
The cut is slightly loose,
yet designed to be opaque, a characteristic of white fabric.
Delicate embroidery was added to the join of the ruffles.
Considering the shirt's already abundant details,
I opted for subtle, understated embroidery,
perhaps less.
This led to the creation of the floral and smile embroidery.
It underwent a month of wear testing before being deemed perfect!
