This matcha is made without chemical fertilizers or pesticides, making it environmentally and body-friendly. The variety is "Okumidori," a popular variety with the third highest yields after Yabukita and Yutakamidori, and its name comes from the fact that it is an excellent late-ripening variety for green tea. An interesting feature is that it is one of the few Japanese tea varieties that contains a component called "methylated catechin," which is said to have a strong anti-allergic effect. Methylated catechin is highly absorbent and long-lasting, and is said to suppress the root cause of allergies, so it is expected to have an effect of reducing hay fever and allergic rhinitis, which are a year-round nuisance. Another variety, Benifuuki tea, is famous for containing methylated catechin, and is often available during hay fever season.
