©️ "Vessel of Coimbra" Wood-Fired Vase / Large Pitcher ©️
Today, we're sharing a glimpse into a beautiful tablescape,
infused with the charm of an exotic vase,
and a deep appreciation for life's meaningful moments.
Adorned with baby's breath,
these tiny white blossoms,
resemble the stars we saw in the Turkish night sky,
small yet radiating a unique brilliance.
Life can be poetic.
This touch of the exotic,
brings a subtle yet distinct difference to everyday living...

This 1000cc exotic wood-fired pitcher is perfect for water, juice, or herbal teas, designed for sharing and enhancing the beauty of any gathering.
The form was inspired by a cherished memory from our travels in Coimbra, Portugal, where locals savor their time at the table, their conversations flowing as freely as the herbal tea from their pitchers. The dining table, we believe, is more than just a place to eat; it's the heart of the home, a reflection of a slower, more intentional way of life.
We've recreated that memory through wood firing, where the natural ash glaze and warm, earthy tones imbue this pitcher with a distinct Taiwanese character.
"The value of a meal is not in how full you are, but in whose laughter lingers."

At Xiao Ping Fan Pottery, we move away from mass production. Each creation is born from a unique concept, infused with life through the pure hand-building or wheel-throwing process. Every piece is truly one-of-a-kind. Our works are a collaboration between my husband and I, hence the signatures "Ping" or "Fan." Some pieces also bear the "Xiao Ping Fan Pottery" seal, making them utterly unique!
**1. What is the origin of your works?**
We primarily use American clay, Japanese clay, and Taiwanese Miaoli clay for our creations.

**2. What is the wood-firing process?**
We blend American, Japanese, and Miaoli clays in various proportions. The creation process involves hand-building (no pottery wheel) to gradually form the piece. After basic shaping, we refine the lines of the body, then polish it to complete the greenware.
Once placed in the kiln, it undergoes a five-day, four-night continuous firing process using natural longan and acacia wood. The temperature reaches over 1200 degrees Celsius. During this time, natural ash deposits adhere to the pieces, forming a unique ash glaze. Simultaneously, the kiln's flames dance around the works, creating beautiful streaks of orange-red or blue-purple.
After five days and four nights of ash and flame interplay, the pieces require a week to cool down before their beautiful form is revealed! Because the kiln atmosphere varies with each firing, the ash deposits and flame patterns on each piece are never the same, ensuring that every creation is truly unique!

**3. What should our esteemed guests be aware of?**
Product colors may vary slightly due to photographic lighting. As our works are purely handmade, they will bear the subtle marks of the crafting process. Slight variations may also occur due to the firing process; imperfections such as uneven rims or minor crafting scratches are normal and do not affect usability. We appreciate your understanding!
