Crafted from a coarse red earthenware clay, this bowl embodies the rustic charm and warmth of pottery. The glaze is a rich, flowing light blue with subtle nuances. These elements are combined to create this leaf-shaped bowl. This is a uniquely shaped bowl, formed into a round shape with a single indentation. Its charming form resembles a broadleaf, a flower petal, or even a heart. With its moderate depth, this vessel can comfortably hold dishes with a bit of sauce. It is ideal for dishes like nikujaga (meat and potato stew), simmered root vegetables, agedashi tofu, jibu-ni (a Kyoto-style stew), potato salad, or dishes with a thickened sauce. You can also enjoy pairing the vibrant colors of dishes like chirashizushi (scattered sushi) with the bowl's hue. This vessel is perfect for serving small portions. All stages of production, from kneading the clay to shaping, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing, are done by hand in my home studio, which is equipped with a small electric kiln and a potter's wheel. While mass production is not possible, each piece has its own unique character, and you can enjoy the subtle charm that comes from being handmade. The item you will receive is the same as pictured. Therefore, we apply a water-repellent treatment to all our tableware using a food-safe sealant before shipping, so there is no need for initial soaking (mezoma). This water-repellent treatment requires 2-3 days to complete, which is why we set the shipping period to 5 days from the date of your order. If you do not require the water-repellent treatment, please inform us at the time of purchase. - We strive to capture and edit product images to be as true to the actual product as possible. However, colors may appear differently depending on your monitor settings and lighting conditions.
