In Taiwan, our own compressed tea is the Hakka health beverage, 'Suan Gan Tea.' Suan Gan Tea is a traditional Hakka health beverage, distinguished by its unique flavor. It is crafted by blending fresh Hu Tou oranges, grown in Sanwan, Miaoli, with tea leaves. Through a meticulous process of steaming, pressing, sun-drying, and roasting, repeated nine times, this tea is transformed into a delightful beverage suitable for any season. At "Hao Shi Tea," we carefully select non-toxic, high-quality tea leaves and blend them with bergamot, lemon, kumquat, and fresh fruit pulp. This mixture is then placed back inside the hollowed-out Hu Tou orange. Each step is handcrafted, from selecting the fruit, scooping out the pulp, creating the fruit puree, choosing the tea, blending the tea, filling the orange, binding it, to the nine rounds of steaming and nine rounds of sun-drying. Notably, it undergoes a process of nine steams and nine sun-dries over six months or more. This extended period allows the fruit peel and tea leaves to shrink and concentrate as they dry. We strictly adhere to every step of the tea-making process, ensuring that each Suan Gan Tea is perfectly preserved for long-term aging.
