<Antique Patterns>
This is a one-of-a-kind item made with traditional patterns that are rarely seen in the market.
We use kimono fabrics featuring particularly rare auspicious motifs.
<A Unique Beauty That Brings You Happiness>
In the past, people living in Watari, Miyagi Prefecture, would place gifts in a "bag" made from scraps of old kimono fabric when giving presents. For example, it might have been a measure of rice given as a celebration or a return gift. It had no set name, and "fukuro" (bag) was slurred into "fuguro."
"FUGURO" recreates and remakes this old custom. The materials are kimono fabrics with auspicious patterns, carefully selected from thousands stored in wardrobes. Each piece is meticulously crafted by hand, imbuing it with the wish for the happiness of the person who receives it.
We deliver a unique beauty that carries happiness to you, embodying the elegant custom of wrapping and gifting precious items, and sewing gratitude into our products.
We use two colors of thread, matched to the colors of the outer and lining fabrics. Please enjoy the beautiful stitching that is pleasing to the eye.
<Japanese Gifts>
As the material is kimono fabric, a symbol of Japanese culture, these items are also popular as souvenirs to take overseas or as gifts for international visitors. They are compact and easy to carry. We include a bilingual (Japanese/English) product description.
<Auspicious Motifs as Symbols of Happiness>
These are auspicious patterns used as "symbols of happiness" that bring good fortune. Understanding the meaning of Japanese patterns connects us to the profound depth of Japanese culture inherited from ancient times.
<Fan Motif> "Career Advancement," "Improvement in Skills and Arts." The fan, with its auspicious spreading shape, is well-loved. Also known as "suehiro" (spreading end), it is a familiar and lucky pattern.

<Let's Contribute to Clothing Upcycling Together>
WATALIS has collected and remade over 12 tons of old kimono fabric to date.
By purchasing our creations, kimono fabrics that lay dormant in wardrobes across the country find new purpose. We are grateful for our customers who help us expand the cycle of upcycling.
We introduce our regional resource upcycling initiatives in a video.

<Notes on Purchase>
* As all items are handmade, please understand that each piece is unique and may vary slightly in size, shape, and pattern.
* In rare cases, when we obtain multiple pieces of kimono fabric in good condition, we may create several items from the same fabric. Please note that the pattern placement may differ slightly from the photo depending on where the fabric is cut.
* Please be aware that the color and texture may appear different on screen compared to the actual product. If you have any concerns, please contact us or refrain from purchasing.
* As the kimono fabrics used as materials are often used and their origins are not specified, the materials are frequently difficult to identify. We thoroughly inspect and process the fabrics, including washing, before remaking them. Please handle with care, as some fabrics may fade or shrink when wet.
* As these items are also sold on other sites, please forgive us if they are out of stock.
