This is our long-awaited, classic A4 tote bag. Crafted from waterproof nylon, it's equipped with numerous pockets. The inner pocket, which also serves as a lid, offers versatile and convenient use. ◎ Embroidery adorns the front of the bag and its pockets. Each piece is meticulously stitched by skilled artisan Hun using a shuttle embroidery machine, giving each item a unique character. ◎ The base is reinforced with urethane material, providing protection against impact and weight. ◎ A convenient pocket on the back, perfect for a smartphone, measures 18cm in height. ◎ D-rings are attached to both sides, allowing for the optional attachment of a shoulder strap. ◎ Inside, you'll find three open compartments and a zippered pocket that doubles as a lid. A snap hook with a cord is perfect for attaching keys. Elastic straps along the sides securely hold water bottles or umbrellas upright. ◎ The interior lining is made of blue nylon fabric. ◎ Waterproof nylon is used for all parts except the embroidered front and pocket areas. *This is because the waterproof coating on the back of the nylon makes it difficult to embroider. ■ Size: 25cm (Height) × 38cm (Width) × 15cm (Depth) ■ Weight: 398g *As each item is handmade, there may be individual differences. You often ask, "How is shuttle embroidery different from regular machine embroidery?" Standard machine embroidery uses a machine that reads an embroidery pattern and stitches it automatically, resulting in perfectly uniform and identical designs. In contrast, 《shuttle embroidery》 is a craft where an artisan manually moves the fabric while stitching the design. Because it's made by hand, each piece has a unique expression. No two embroidered pieces are exactly alike, and the finished embroidery has a texture that resembles hand-stitching. It's an incredible artisanal skill that involves transferring a sketch onto the fabric and meticulously stitching while referring to the original artwork, coordinating with the up-and-down motion of the sewing machine needle. Currently, there are only about 400 people in Vietnam who can perform shuttle embroidery. Of these, only about 50 work professionally. Furthermore, only 30 have passed the highest level (Level 4) of embroidery certification. Among them, a mere 10 can execute the intricate designs required by Pangandaran. However, being skilled isn't enough; embroidery requires a certain flair. Subtle nuances can significantly alter the overall impression. Therefore, at Pangandaran, we entrust our work to Hun, who possesses the highest level of skill. Hun, currently 46 years old, has been practicing this craft for 31 years, starting at the age of 15. He also has a remarkable sense of design, and we place our complete trust in him. Due to recent economic development, traditional crafts in Vietnam, like elsewhere, face challenging circumstances. Since 2000, the number of people capable of shuttle embroidery has rapidly declined, and there are virtually no young people learning this skill today. With the number of artisans expected to decrease further, Vietnamese shuttle embroidery is unfortunately on the verge of disappearing within the next decade or so.
