The Istituto Fotocromo Italiano (IFI)
was founded in Florence in 1928 by engineer Vincenzo Balocchi.
In addition to his engineering pursuits, he was a renowned amateur photographer
and had served as the Art Director for the Fratelli Alinari company.
-
Today, IFI remains under the leadership of the same family as it was in its early days.
Each item carries a genuine Italian heritage,
with all processes—from materials and design to production and printing—completed in Italy.
The paper used is also Italian fine art paper,
perfectly rendering the printed colors.
This approach upholds the enduring artistic styles of Italy and other European nations.
-
For IFI,
a rich, nostalgic aesthetic and local character are central to their work.
Their designs draw inspiration from a diverse range of subjects, including opera, film, advertising, architecture, and world literature,
resulting in a distinctive and comprehensive style.
Through their imagery, we are invited to imagine the atmosphere of bygone eras.
If you have a particular fondness for medieval Europe,
you may find much to appreciate in IFI's creations!
