Keum-boo, also known as Kum-Boo, involves heating a silver base to over 100°C. At this high temperature, the metal atoms of gold foil and silver reach a critical point, creating a bonding effect.
By then burnishing and applying pressure, the two metals fuse seamlessly.
The three-layered petal structure is crafted separately.
Chasing is used to create the delicately curled edges of the petals.
After soldering the three components together and attaching the ear posts,
and completing three soldering processes,
we then apply a Keum-boo finish with thick pure gold foil.
Finally, it is patinated or polished according to the desired effect.
