Seto Ware: The Homeland of the Maneki-neko
✨ Seto Ware refers to ceramics produced in and around Seto City, Aichi Prefecture. With a history stretching back 1300 years to the Kamakura period, it is recognized as one of Japan's Six Ancient Kilns. In 1977, Seto Ware was designated a Japanese Traditional Craft by the government, and in 2017, it was recognized as a "Japan Heritage" site. It is also credited as the birthplace of glazed pottery and the ceramic Maneki-neko (beckoning cat), earning it the title "Homeland of the Maneki-neko."
