**Over a Century of Indigenous Taiwanese Mountain Tea**
__Tea trees from the Qing Dynasty era, evolving with time to become today's rich flavors.__
Mountain tea is the most representative and historically significant tea variety in Taiwan, growing in Lugu for over a hundred years.
The farmers taking over their family tea gardens are often third, fourth, or even fifth-generation tea growers. Their childhood memories are filled with helping and playing in the tea fields. After leaving home to work, their hearts always yearned for their family's land, leading them to resolutely return home to take over, unwilling to let it fall into disuse.
Over the past century, Lugu's mountain teas have intermingled with different tea varieties, developing diverse forms and rich flavors. This has attracted many to Sun Moon Lake in search of century-old black tea tastes. Its characteristic sweet aroma of ripe fruit and its tolerance for prolonged steeping make it suitable for beginners and a great introduction to large-leaf black teas.
The century-old "Friendly Mountain Tea" is a selection from the summer harvest. The dry leaves carry a honey-sweet aroma, and the infusion is layered and complex.
The most prominent notes are ripe fruit, followed by woody undertones, the sweet and sour tang of preserved plums, and a hint of lemon essential oil.
