GF products are manufactured under high-temperature and high-pressure conditions, with a thick and tightly bonded layer of 14K gold covering the base metal alloy. This is far superior to electroplating. The outer layer of K gold is hard and highly resistant to wear, and will not peel off. However, due to individual wearing habits and other factors, the outer 14K gold layer may wear down or change color over time. Similar to sterling silver, 14KGF can also oxidize and discolor. We recommend removing jewelry while swimming, exercising, or visiting hot springs.
