**What is a swing clock?**

During the Ming Dynasty, Italian missionary Matteo Ricci presented a pendulum mechanical clock as a tribute to the Eastern world, presenting this imported Western product together with the results of scientific research, which amazed the Eastern world.
We are launching the "Swinging Mechanical Clock" to simplify the principle of the ancient pendulum, insist on not using electricity, and use the combination of pendulum length, gears and weights. Children can try different combinations of the three during the assembly process, and easily understand the mechanism principle of the mechanical clock, the pendulum principle, gears, and the escapement system design. They can also admire the greatness of the ancients inventing timekeeping tools, stimulate scientific sensitivity and interest, and it is an excellent opportunity for practice and learning!
**|Little knowledge about the escapement system|**
In the world of watches, the term “escapement” is often mentioned. What exactly is it?
The escapement was first invented by Philo of Byzantium in Greece, but the escapement used in clock mechanisms was developed by Thich Nhat Hanh, a Tang Dynasty monk and court astronomer, mathematician, and engineer.
"Escapement" literally means "gathering and releasing". Through this mechanism, power can be collected first and then adjusted using other parts, allowing the movement to maintain stable operation accuracy and the second hand to run in an orderly manner. The quality of the escapement mechanism will affect the accuracy of the mechanical watch!
