🌞 Introductory Workshop: What to Expect
--------------------
This introductory workshop is designed for those who prefer a relaxed approach to leather crafting, without a significant time commitment. It's perfect for individuals new to handmade leather goods or those looking to create a heartfelt gift. To simplify the process, the studio prepares about 70% of the materials, making the hands-on experience feel effortless and enjoyable. You'll learn two fundamental hand-stitching techniques: "pricking iron hand-hammering stitch holes" and "leather professional double-needle stitching." All other crafting intricacies are handled by the studio.
Using the ID card holder as an example, we'll pre-apply the plastic film, smooth the leather edges, and complete the initial stitching to secure the film. All leather pieces will be assembled and adhered, leaving you to complete the final row of stitches. Despite its apparent simplicity, our years of teaching experience show that beginners typically need 1.5 to 2.5 hours or more to complete the project.
If you're interested in creating more complex items or learning a wider range of techniques, consider booking an advanced workshop.

🌞 Material Spotlight
--------------------
This item is crafted from vegetable-tanned cowhide, known for its firm texture and robustness. In Taiwan's early days, before plastics were widespread, vegetable-tanned cowhide was a staple in numerous products, including drive belts for early sewing machines, bicycle saddles, and various rural and military accessories.

A characteristic of vegetable-tanned leather is its tendency to develop a richer, deeper hue over time due to the tannins reacting with air and sunlight. Daily use, including contact with the natural oils from your hands, further enhances its patina, creating a beautifully aged and lustrous finish. This evolution makes each vegetable-tanned leather piece unique, reflecting the passage of time and the owner's habits—a quality deeply cherished by handmade leather enthusiasts.

Cattle are primarily raised for meat and dairy, with hides being a byproduct of the livestock industry. As such, farmers do not typically prioritize protecting the animals' skin. Consequently, hides may bear marks from insect bites, scratches, thorns, or branding from free-range life. Natural growth lines, wrinkles, and even surgical scars from difficult births can also be present. The skinning process itself can leave knife marks, all of which are faithfully preserved on the leather, serving as a testament to the animal's life. These natural markings are proof of genuine, untreated leather, free from artificial additives or surface coatings.

Many Taiwanese leather brands opt for heavily processed hides, often sanding and coating the leather surface to achieve a flawless appearance. While clean, this approach sacrifices the natural character. At DOZI Leather Studio, we embrace these natural markings. Unless they are significantly large, we don't avoid incorporating them into our designs. As the leather ages, darkens, and develops a patina from use, these inherent traits, combined with signs of wear, contribute to the piece's unique story and individuality.
🌞 Color Selection

The photos provided are of the actual leather material. Colors may vary slightly due to differences in lighting and screen displays. To ensure clarity and avoid discrepancies, we are happy to provide leather swatches upon request.

🌞 Care and Maintenance
--------------------
Regular use is the best form of care. It's advisable to avoid exposing the leather to humid environments. If the leather becomes wet, gently wipe it immediately with a dry cloth and allow it to air dry in a cool, shaded area. Avoid direct sunlight, as this can cause the leather to harden and deteriorate. Once dry, you may apply leather conditioner to replenish its oils and consider using a waterproof spray for added protection against accidental spills. For storage or extended periods of non-use, place the item in a dehumidifying cabinet set to 50%-60% humidity to prevent mold, or use a sealed bag with a desiccant. Periodically reapply conditioner during storage to prevent the leather from drying out and cracking.

Workshop Description
Notes
1. A reserved time slot indicates your preferred session; actual class times will be confirmed via direct communication with our staff, subject to instructor availability and material preparation. If we cannot accommodate your preferred time due to our scheduling, a full refund will be issued. In cases of unforeseen circumstances such as weather, government mandates, pandemics, or natural disasters, fees will be held, and a new session time will be arranged through mutual agreement.
2. This booking is for individual sessions at our studio. For corporate events, school groups, team-building activities, or brand activations requiring on-site instruction, please contact us directly to make separate arrangements. Do not book through this platform.
3. The on-site workshop includes complimentary DIY letter stamping for uppercase alphabets, numbers, and symbols. Value-added services such as "laser engraving" and "hot foil stamping" must be completed before leather pieces are assembled and thus cannot be accommodated during workshop bookings.
4. A one-year product warranty is provided from the date of purchase, covering repairs and maintenance at our store. Excluding human-induced damage, repair services will be complimentary. Beyond the warranty period, free leather maintenance will continue to be offered, with a nominal fee for repair services.
5. Our studio favors naturally-textured leather. Our cowhide is minimally processed with light surface treatments, retaining natural variations in color, grain, and minor markings. If a perfectly flawless surface is required, this may not be the ideal material. We regret that requests for "flawless leather surfaces" cannot be accommodated. Should you have specific material preferences or alternative ideas for the workshop, we can arrange a different session time, but we are unable to cover any travel expenses incurred.
