Features:
The texture of the handmade Wannian Red paper is warm and organic. The subtle flow of pulp creates endlessly varied patterns.
This paper, a bright and delicate shade of vermilion red, invigorates the spirit upon sight.
Hand-poured by artisans at a traditional paper mill in Puli, Taiwan, and screen-printed one by one, the gold-sprinkled effect is truly spectacular.
Beautiful auspicious couplets selected for a wonderful day, hot-stamped by Taiwanese artisans (even the gold leaf is made in Taiwan).
These couplets, when affixed to your door, are a work of calligraphy art that delights the eyes with every entry and exit. They represent exquisite Taiwanese craftsmanship worthy of collection, and make for a thoughtful gift.
What is Wannian Red:
Wannian Red paper is treated with a special process on its surface to resist fading, hence its name.
Wannian Red paper can be either handmade or machine-made.
While its resistance to fading is widely appreciated, the main drawback of Wannian Red is its thinness, making it prone to tearing.
Improvements in the "Luxury Edition Couplets":
Mei Hao Yi Ri Studio has laminated the thin-gauge Wannian Red paper with 240g eco-friendly red cardstock,
reinforcing the resilience of the couplet paper!
This is the first time you'll see such a sturdy Wannian Red Xuan paper!
Adhesion:
1. We recommend using double-sided cloth tape, which leaves no residue and ensures a smooth surface when applied.
2. Experienced users can opt for rice paste; the wall can be washed clean when replacing the couplets the following year.
3. Absolutely avoid using double-sided tape or foam tape, as removing the adhesive residue from walls the following year can be extremely difficult and regrettable.
4. Height: The top of the first calligraphy character should be positioned slightly above eye level.
5. If affixing to a single door, do not place the two couplets too far apart (1-2 cm is ideal).
6. Many have asked about affixing to ornate iron gates or barred gates; we can only suggest purchasing magnetic wooden scroll hangers (similar to hanging paintings, with wooden strips at the top and bottom).
