The 14k gold-plated material frequently used in the mixandfun design studio is made by plating a layer of 1/20 14k gold onto brass. This is a very popular material in recent years, known for being easier to care for and maintain, with colors that tend to last longer. The price is also considerably more accessible than solid 14k gold.
Solid 14k gold, on the other hand, is 14k gold throughout, inside and out. The gold content is approximately 58.5%, with the remainder being silver, iron, or copper. Given Taiwan's climate, it is even easier to care for, and the color rendering is more refined. If you have sensitive skin, solid 14k gold is also a good option to consider.
Specially plated alloy is another material I often use. mixandfun carefully selects preferred unplated chains and then specially electroplates them. Therefore, under normal wear conditions, the color tends to last longer.
Care Instructions:
1. Always put on your jewelry after dressing and remove it before changing into loungewear. It is not recommended to wear jewelry while bathing, and avoiding hot springs and swimming is crucial.
2. For earrings, it is recommended to use the included silicone stoppers to reduce the chance of loss.
3. Taiwan's climate is hot and humid. If you do not wear your jewelry for an extended period, it is advisable to gently wipe it with a soft cloth before storing it in a sealed bag.
4. For delicate chains, make it a habit to fasten the clasp when taking them off to reduce tangling.
5. For gold-plated, solid 14k gold, or specially plated alloy, please understand that signs of wear are natural after prolonged use.
6. Maintenance Tip: If you notice any oxidation on your jewelry, don't panic. You can take a bowl, add some water and a little salt, and a small piece of aluminum foil. Place your solid 14k gold or sterling silver jewelry in the mixture for about 10 minutes, then remove it. It should typically regain its shine. (Material composition may vary slightly by brand.) It is recommended to start with less expensive silver jewelry.
7. You can place solid 14k gold or general alloy jewelry in your palm, dip an old toothbrush in a small amount of toothpaste, and gently brush for about half a minute. Then rinse with clean water, and it will sparkle again. (Material composition may vary slightly by brand.) It is recommended to start with less expensive silver jewelry.
8. Antiqued or brass jewelry is a material mixandfun uses less frequently. For proper care instructions, please refer to other professional sellers.
