**Formosan Clouded Leopard**
The Formosan clouded leopard was once the largest carnivore on the island of Taiwan. It was also known as the "Takasago leopard" during the Japanese occupation. At that time, the number of Formosan clouded leopards was already quite rare. Their body length is about 60 cm to 100 cm, their weight is about 16 to 23 kg, and their tails are almost as long as their bodies. It usually preys on animals such as macaques, mountain sheep, squirrels, etc.
The Taiwanese clouded leopard was first recorded in literature by Western naturalist Xun He in 1862, and was confirmed to be extinct in 2014. Although some people have claimed to have seen clouded leopards, it has never been proven, so it is impossible to be sure that what people saw was clouded leopards. At present, the zoos raise clouded leopard subspecies imported from other countries.
**IUCN Class: Extinct (EX)**
