**Formosan Clouded Leopard**
Taiwan's clouded leopard used to be the largest carnivorous animal on the island of Taiwan. It was also known as the "high sand leopard" during the Japanese occupation. They are about 60 centimeters to 100 centimeters in length and weigh about 16 to 23 kilograms. Their tails are as long as their bodies. Usually will prey on macaques, mountain Qiang, squirrels ... and other animals.
The Taiwanese clouded leopard was first recorded in the literature by Western naturalist Xu He in 1862, and was confirmed extinct in 2014. Although some people have claimed to see clouded leopards, it has never been proven, so it is impossible to be sure that what people see is clouded leopards. At present, all zoo leopards are imported from other countries.
**IUCN rank: Extinct (EX)**
