Cultivated in the Pinglin mountainous region of Taipei, this Wenshan Baozhong offers a sweet, melon-like aroma in its liquor, complemented by an elegant floral scent reminiscent of orchids. It's a lightly oxidized oolong, making it an accessible choice for those new to tea appreciation.
【Turtle Time Hot Brew Method】
1. Warm the Pot: Pour hot water into the teapot to gently warm it, then discard the water after 30 seconds.
2. Dry Aroma: Place a suitable amount of tea leaves into the pot (enough to cover the bottom thinly; approximately 7 grams per serving, adjustable to your preference). Bring the pot closer to inhale the aromatic steam released by the warm leaves, a truly calming experience.
3. Warming Infusion:
The tightly rolled leaves of oolong tea require a brief soak. Pour 95-100°C hot water into the pot to wet the leaves and immediately pour it out. This step warms the leaves, helping them unfurl and release their flavor more readily in subsequent infusions.
4. Brewing and Tasting: Pour hot water over the leaves, cover, and let steep for approximately 1.5 minutes. Then, pour the tea into a fairness pitcher. It is recommended to collect the liquor from 2-3 infusions in the pitcher, blending the nuanced flavors of each steep for a richer experience.
5. Subsequent Infusions: For each subsequent brew, increase the steeping time by 15-30 seconds.
* A total of 6-7 infusions can be expected, starting from the warming infusion.
A ceramic teapot is recommended for its slower heat dissipation, which helps maintain temperature and provides ample space for the leaves to expand.
【Simple Brew for Office Workers】
1. Spread the tea leaves evenly at the bottom of a tea infuser.
2. Hang the infuser in your mug.
3. Head to the pantry, and while chatting with colleagues, carefully pour about 350cc of 90-95°C hot water over the leaves.
4. Let steep for 2-3 minutes until the leaves have slightly unfurled and the liquor turns golden yellow. Remove the infuser and enjoy.
For subsequent brews, increase the steeping time by 1 minute each time. You can expect 2-3 infusions.
【Cold Brew While You Sleep】
1. In a water bottle, combine 5 grams of tea leaves with 500cc of water.
2. Place the bottle in the refrigerator and let it steep overnight (approximately 8-10 hours). In the morning, filter out the tea leaves (to avoid bitterness) and enjoy your refreshing cold brew.
