As Akadama soil is used, you can gauge the soil's dryness by its color. When the soil color lightens, it indicates dryness. If only the surface soil is dry, no watering is needed. Wait until at least half the soil in the pot is dry before watering. Coniferous plants are relatively drought-tolerant, differing slightly from common flowering, fruiting, evergreen, or deciduous trees. **Water thoroughly when watering.** Water until you see it flowing from the drainage holes at the bottom of the pot.
