The Ink Shino Gold-Gilded Cup captures a sense of spontaneous creativity through its natural ink-wash application, creating a fluid, multi-layered aesthetic reminiscent of a traditional ink painting. The plum blossom motif on the body is accented with liquid 24K gold, exuding an elegant luster as it catches the light. Over time, the glaze develops a delicate crackle pattern, adding depth and refined beauty to the piece.
The Shino glaze used originates from Mino and is a white glaze primarily composed of feldspar. yuhuayuart applies this custom-blended glaze to each piece, resulting in a warm, gentle finish with rich layers after firing.
The Ink Shino style is achieved by applying glaze to the bisque-fired vessel using a natural ink-wash technique. Through precise control of kiln temperatures and high-temperature reduction, the final result is a fluid, multi-layered appearance that mirrors the movement of ink on paper.
The interior features a smooth Shino-glazed surface. As you use the cup for tea, fine cracks—known as 'crackle'—will gradually appear, resembling delicate golden threads. These patterns will slowly absorb the tea color over time; visible lines typically emerge after about a month, becoming more pronounced after two to three months as the cup develops its own unique patina.
The final gilding step involves hand-painting with 24K liquid gold (pure gold), which is then kiln-fired. This creates a warm, understated golden luster that shimmers beautifully in the light.
Works from yuhuayuart are created for those who cherish details and a refined lifestyle, ensuring that every sip is not just a routine, but a continuation of enjoyment and taste.

4. All works are photographed in a studio to represent their true colors as accurately as possible. Please note that actual colors may vary slightly, and minor variations are not considered defects.
Care Instructions | Gold-Gilded Works
Gently wipe the gold layer with a soft cloth. Avoid scrubbing with scouring pads or stiff brushes, and do not soak in detergents for extended periods. Do not use in the microwave (the metal may spark) or the dishwasher to prevent the gold layer from wearing or flaking.
Artist | Yu Hua-Yu
Born in 1980, Yu developed a deep passion for pottery after first encountering wheel-throwing in middle school. After completing his military service, he moved to Yingge to apprentice under masters Wu Kuo-Jung and Wu Chien-Tsai, dedicating over twenty years to ceramic art. He has developed the Yohen Shino, Rock Mineral, and Purple Clay series, and successfully recreated traditional Song Dynasty celadon firing techniques.
Creative Philosophy
Centered on kiln-transmutation, Yu believes that every piece is a collaborative creation between the potter and the user, transcending time and space. Each crack and layer of color matures with daily use, transforming the vessel into a true embodiment of the 'beauty of use,' turning tea time into a profound experience of enjoyment and refined taste.
