Taiwan Tea No. 18, also known as Ruby, is a hybrid variety developed from the Assam tea variety B-729 (from Myanmar) and Taiwan mountain tea B-607. It was cultivated by the Yuchi Branch Station of the Tea and Beverage Improvement Station, Council of Agriculture, and released in 1999. It is used to produce black tea, characterized by its deep red liquor, with notes of cinnamon, mint, and a sweet caramel aroma.
