The history of the open joint stock company "Minsk Watch Factory" began in 1953, when it was decided to build a watch factory. It was then that the beginning of the development of the watch industry of the Republic of Belarus was laid. In 1962, the Ministry of Industry, together with the plant, decided to produce a particularly flat men's watch “Vimpel”, produced by the First Moscow Watch Factory, which handed over technical documentation for them. This watch received the brand "Luch-2209". The caliber of the mechanism is 22 mm, height is 2.9 mm, 23 jewels, with a central second hand and a shockproof device. Development began on July 1, 1962. The watch face has a dimming at the bottom of the dial closer to the right side.
