This book is a special collection for the "New Encyclopedia" exhibition, including curatorial essays and introductions to the exhibited works.
From December 2024 to March 2025, the Taoyuan Museum of Fine Arts for Children will host the special exhibition "New Encyclopedia." Marking the 40th anniversary of the classic children's publication "Hanns-Kahn Encyclopedia," the exhibition engages with this historically significant archive and its past through a dialogue. The exhibition invites 8 artists/teams, including Li Xiao Xian, Walk the Grassland Arts Group, Er Jin, Liu Kuo-Sung, Hsu Tang-Wei, Wang Teh-Yu + Lin Po-Yang, and Ling Tsung-Ting, to revisit and converse with the knowledge once offered by the "Encyclopedia." The exhibition unfolds along two exploration paths: "Huh! What is this... A Hundred Ideas" and "Up to the Heavens, Down to the Earth, My Home!" Each artist uses contemporary art to explore or question "place," "the world," and "the future," offering fresh perspectives on knowledge through their unique personal experiences and diverse artistic forms.
