These are SDGs jewelry pieces featuring kintsugi, upcycled from ceramics by Matsugunzan Kiln (Shounzan-gama), a potter based in Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture.
Broken or chipped pottery that is no longer usable is upcycled and transformed into accessories with kintsugi.
The concept behind these pieces is to bring the beauty of nature and Japan's enduring traditions closer to you, reimagining them into modern accessories that connect to the future and create new possibilities.
Elegant pottery shards, a blend of orange and white, are adorned with three freshwater pearls.
Kintsugi is applied to the sides of the pottery fragments, allowing the gold to shine even from the side, adding a touch of sophistication.
These pieces serve as a perfect accent for both casual and elegant outfits.
Length: Pottery fragment: 12 x 15mm, Total length: 28mm
Hardware: Screw-back earrings (hardware cannot be changed)
Weight: Though made from pottery fragments, they are lightweight and comfortable to wear.
As each piece is a one-of-a-kind accessory, it makes an ideal gift. Please consider it as a present for someone special.
*As these are finished, one-of-a-kind items, we cannot accommodate requests for hardware changes or re-orders.
*We will send the item shown in the photos. However, if it has already been sold on another site, it may be made to order. In such cases, please be aware that there may be individual differences in color, pattern, and size of the pottery fragments and natural stones shown in the photos.
*"Kintsugi" is a unique Japanese traditional repair method that mends broken or chipped ceramics using lacquer and gold powder. This work utilizes a modern, simplified kintsugi technique. Unlike traditional kintsugi which uses tree sap from the lacquer tree, this method uses adhesive for the primary bonding.
The kintsugi parts are made with lacquer (a paint created by the manufacturer, not raw lacquer) and gold powder (brass powder, pearl powder), with UV resin also used for reinforcement.
