Each of the Seven Buddhas of Medicine has their own original vows. Unlike Amitābha Buddha, who focuses on rebirth in the Pure Land, the vows of the Seven Buddhas of Medicine not only encompass rebirth in the Medicine Buddha's Pure Land but also emphasize present-day blessings and merits. For instance, the Vow of the Tathāgata of Self-Mastery of Radiant Light of the Moon-Jewel Wisdom in the Wonderful Jewel World states: First Great Vow: When I attain Bodhi in a future life, if any sentient beings, engaged in agriculture or commerce, have their minds disturbed and cease practicing the supreme wholesome Dharma of Bodhi, unable to escape the cycle of birth and death, and suffer boundless anguish, if they sincerely call upon my name, by the power of this, their clothing, food, provisions, gold, silver, and precious jewels shall be abundantly supplied according to their wishes. All their good roots shall grow, and they shall not abandon the Bodhi mind. They shall be freed from the suffering of the evil paths. This shall continue until they attain Bodhi. Fulfilling the worldly desires of sentient beings, ensuring abundance in food and clothing while nurturing good roots, and gradually guiding them towards the practice of Bodhi—this is indeed a refuge for Buddhist disciples in the Dharma-ending age. In accordance with the scriptures, we have blended appropriate aromatic materials to create this incense, incorporating the Haritaki fruit, which the Medicine Buddha holds. As stated in the Golden Light Supreme King Sutra: {The Haritaki fruit possesses six tastes and can cure all diseases, being the king of medicines without contraindications.} It is an object of auspicious connection.
