Istituto Fotocromo Italiano (IFI) was founded in Florence in 1928 by engineer Vincenzo Balocchi.
In addition to his engineering research, he was also a renowned amateur photographer of his time
and had served as the art director for the Fratelli Alinari company.
-
Today, IFI remains led by the same family as it was in its early days.
Each product carries its pure Italian heritage,
with every step—from material selection, pattern design, to production and printing—completed in Italy.
The paper used is also fine Italian art paper,
allowing the printed colors to be perfectly expressed on the page.
This approach continues the rich and enduring artistic style of Italy and other European nations.
-
For IFI,
a wealth of nostalgic styles and regional characteristics are the primary direction for their creations.
From opera, film, and advertisements to architecture and world literature,
their styles are distinct and all-encompassing,
allowing us to imagine the atmosphere of olden times through their imagery.
If you happen to be fascinated by medieval Europe,
perhaps you will find much inspiration in IFI's work!
