About Wood Firing "Wood firing" is a traditional kiln firing method, burning at temperatures above 1200 degrees Celsius with firewood. It features "fire marks" naturally left by the firewood on the ceramic body, and the ash naturally falling from the burning wood, resulting in warm and rich colors and variations in the work, a realm unattainable by electric or gas kilns. Compared to general electric and gas kilns, the entire process of wood firing, from stacking the kiln, ignition, sealing the kiln, to cooling down, takes approximately 8-10 days. Furthermore, the high kiln pressure in wood firing, along with factors such as climate humidity, wood dryness, human-controlled stoking speed, and kiln stacking position, can all lead to the success or failure of the work, with a higher damage rate. Experienced wood-firing artists consider the kiln's airflow speed when stacking the kiln, planning the placement of works of different sizes, estimating the path of the flames, how to stoke wood and charcoal, and the degree of fire control.
