【In-Depth Tour】 Cultural Walkthrough of Hualien Dachen First Village - Day Tours / Tours - Other Materials

Workshop Description

**Begin a cultural journey that bridges past and present.** Hualien’s Dachen First Village preserves the treasured memories of the Dachen people who migrated to Taiwan. Inside the Dachen Story House, photographs and artifacts record the daily lives and customs of the 1950s, reflecting the resilience of a community shaped by war and displacement. Walking through the village, you’ll still find the original houses standing quietly in place—each carrying traces of time and the stories of the families who lived within. At the heart of the settlement stands Taiwan’s only temple dedicated to Ruan Bi Zhenjun(阮弼真君), continuing to safeguard the community’s spiritual roots and cultural identity. The journey offers more than history and culture—it invites you to experience warmth through tea and local treats. The gentle spice of Dachen ginger black tea and the soft, nostalgic texture of traditional rice cake carry the flavors of a homeland across generations. This is more than a visit. It is a rare opportunity to step into the rhythms of everyday life and gain a deeper understanding of an outer-province resettlement community and its living culture. **Activity Highlights ** ● Trace the footsteps of history: Step into the Dachen Story House and begin your journey through time, discovering the moving stories of Dachen Island residents who relocated to Taiwan in the 1950s. ● Local tasting experience: Enjoy authentic tea and traditional snacks along the way, savoring the true flavors of the community. ● Hidden photo-worthy spots: Wander through the quiet alleyways of this former military dependents’ village and experience the simple, unpolished charm of a Taiwanese settlement. ● Engage with local residents: This is more than sightseeing—it’s an immersive encounter with the people and culture that make this community unique. **Activity Itinerary ** ● Be guided by a knowledgeable local tour leader. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54824366556_941b9ba458_z.jpg ● Explore exhibition panels and artifacts that illuminate Dachen culture. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54824766600_2f6500a534_z.jpg ● Experience immersive storytelling with interactive props. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54824678309_49e3fef48d_z.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54825099714_6de8203aa1_z.jpg ● Stroll through the village’s narrow lanes and historic streets. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54825103104_654e925d5b_z.jpg ● Discover the secrets hidden inside the treasure box—what could be inside? https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54824708489_e009883779_z.jpg ● Enjoy a delicious and authentic Dachen-style afternoon tea. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54825016839_4e0c680fef_z.jpg ● Even Ray Du (Ray Du English) has visited Dachen! https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54824715340_0442611e98_z.jpg
