A mandala (曼荼羅) is an icon based on esoteric Buddhist scriptures, depicting a world where various Buddhas and deities gather around Dainichi Nyorai. It symbolizes the state of enlightenment and the truths of the universe, with hundreds of different types. Mandala is a transliteration of the Sanskrit word "maṇḍala," meaning "that which possesses essence" or "essence." It also carries the meaning of "that which is round." The geometric design of mandalas has also influenced the fields of art and design. This type of art is known as mandala art. This mask features mandala art applied to a fox mask. At the center of the forehead is a lotus flower blooming in the Pure Land, surrounded by intricate patterns. Mandalas are said to represent a "map connecting the universe and individual consciousness." The structure that expands outward from the center illustrates the flow of consciousness from the essence of the soul to the real world, guiding us toward fundamental questions such as "What am I?" and "Where do I come from and where am I going?" The center is like the eye of a storm; no matter how turbulent the surroundings, it remains a very calm place. It is a place of deep tranquility. By centering your mind on what matters, you can overcome any difficulty. This is the strength of being mentally centered (centering). By feeling the center, a restless mind can reduce overthinking, become less swayed by emotions, and return to a state of tranquility and peace. Wearing a fox mask was traditionally believed to bestow divine powers upon those possessed by spirits, and wearing it was a way to receive that power. Additionally, foxes are known to eat many mice, so farmers revered them to ward off pests. There is also a theory that the worship of foxes originated from the term "Miketsu Kami," a deity of food, which eventually became associated with foxes. Foxes are particularly revered by farmers and those in food-related businesses (for prosperity). '~OBORO~' fox masks have been purchased by many male customers, who have used them in various ways, such as resting them on their chin, wearing them diagonally on their head, or wrapping them around a part of their body. Some customers also display them as interior decor. Noh masks used in Noh theater are made small. It is said that "by showing the movement from the chin to the neck, the subtle emotions are conveyed to the audience." For this reason, we often receive inquiries about whether larger sizes are made for men. However, we currently do not produce larger sizes. Smaller sizes allow for a more condensed expression. If made to fit a man's face, it would appear disproportionately large when worn. Therefore, '~OBORO~' fox masks are exclusively for women's sizing. We appreciate your understanding. Weight: Approximately 230g (slight individual differences may occur due to being handmade). This is a mask that can be worn. Please confirm your face dimensions. Being made of FRP, it is resistant to light impact and will not break easily. A box is not included. If you require a box, please purchase the separate (for fox mask) box. *The last photo, although from a different work, shows the cord attachment on the back of the mask. All '~OBORO~' masks are now produced with the cord adhered to the mask (integrated). This was done to eliminate the annoyance of the cord touching the face on the back of the mask and to pursue aesthetic beauty. However, this means that you cannot replace the cord with your own. In such cases, you would need to request a repair from us. If you prefer the older model (where the mask and cord are not integrated), please consult us.
