Naoko Nakanishi
A renowned Japanese illustrator and culinary artist. She is known for her charming animal-themed illustrations, characterized by their simple and pure essence. Following the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, Ms. Nakanishi pondered how she could contribute. A friend suggested she create a drawing each day as a gift to offer comfort to those whose hearts were deeply wounded and struggling to heal. Over time, in 2013, Naoko Nakanishi embarked on a nationwide exhibition tour in Japan with these artworks.
The tabby cat, BonBon, has been a recurring character in Ms. Nakanishi's creations since 2007, appearing most frequently in her work. This brown tabby cat enjoys visiting markets, cooking, and traveling. Brought to life through Ms. Nakanishi's diverse collection of papers, BonBon's whimsical and humorous demeanor often brings a smile, helping one forget their worries.
