Crafted with a newly formulated matte white Shino glaze, this piece features a porcelain-like, delicate, and elegant texture. With a capacity of approximately 1200cc and a practical wide-mouth design, it serves as an excellent water vessel for tea ceremonies. Its pure and understated appearance balances utility with artistry, adding a sense of harmony to your tea space.
The glaze used is Shino, originating from Mino, Japan, which utilizes feldspar as its primary ingredient. Teacher Yu applies this custom-formulated Shino glaze to the piece, resulting in a warm, soft, and richly layered finish after firing.
The matte white Shino-style surface is achieved by applying Teacher Yu’s new matte white Shino glaze after a bisque firing, followed by precise control of the kiln temperature and the degree of high-temperature reduction. This process creates a porcelain-like, delicate, elegant, and subtly warm finish.
The interior of the vessel features a smooth Shino-glazed surface, which will gradually develop fine cracks—similar to 'golden thread and iron wire' crackle patterns—through contact with tea over time. With daily use, tea pigments will slowly seep into these lines; the crackle pattern typically becomes visible after about a month, with the color deepening after two to three months, allowing you to cultivate a unique patina exclusive to your vessel.
Works from yuhuayuart are dedicated to those who cherish details and value the quality of life, transforming every tea session from a simple act into a continuous journey of enjoyment and taste.
Purchase Notes
1. Every piece from yuhuayuart is handmade by Teacher Yu. As each one is unique, this is the inherent charm of handmade ceramics.
2. Each piece is one-of-a-kind; once sold, no identical version is available. If a piece you admire has already been sold, please feel free to send a private message to inquire about similar works.
3. During the firing process, glazes may flow and distribute naturally, and minor crackling may occur on the surface due to temperature fluctuations. These are characteristic features of kiln-fired works. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out via private message.
4. All works are photographed in a studio to represent their original colors as accurately as possible. Please refer to the actual product for the final color; minor color variations are not considered defects.

Creative Philosophy
Teacher Yu centers his work on kiln transformation, believing that every piece is a collaborative creation between the ceramic artist and the user across time. Each crack and layer of color grows richer with the user's daily habits, becoming a vessel that embodies the 'beauty of use,' where tea appreciation is not just a simple act, but a continuation of enjoyment and taste.
