Located at the northernmost tip of Taiwan's tea area, the Shimen Tea Area was once one of the areas with the largest black tea production during the Japanese colonial period (1895-1945), with hard-branched red heart species as its characteristic tea tree species; however, as Taiwan's tea industry expanded in the 1980s Due to various factors of the times, demand fell to the bottom in an instant, making this production area like most low-altitude tea areas a living fossil.
Grandma Xie has always used natural farming methods to carefully protect her tea trees. However, as she is getting older, she can no longer take care of the tea and is no longer suitable to make tea with us. Fortunately, Grandma Xie’s descendants are currently helping to take care of the tea garden. However, with the cooperation over the past two years, the output of the hardwood red heart species has increased slightly this season, and we can also provide tea lovers with more friendly tea products.
This tea embodies our commitment to protecting Taiwan’s precious heritage, and is also an important milestone in Changcha’s current work in Shimen. In addition to the scent of musky cologne, nuts and leather, there is also a hint of rose when brewed with boiling water. The aftertaste has a strong flavor unique to this variety, which makes the body and mind extremely relaxed, like the comfort of being wrapped in a wool blanket, listening to the sound of winter rain outside the window, and slowly falling asleep unconsciously.
