Burmese Dragon and Serpent Motif Open Bangle in Bronze Alloy. An antique metal artifact unearthed from within a pagoda. This collection comprises 5 bangles brought back to Taiwan. This particular piece is the most complete and aesthetically pleasing among the five, though also the most valuable. The ends of the bronze bangle feature dragon and serpent designs. In ancient times, to prevent the bronze ring from loosening and slipping off the wrist, a rope would be tied around the necks of the dragon and serpent on both ends. After bringing them back to Taiwan, I contemplated for a long time... The design incorporates an eye-shaped motif with a hole, a bi-colored silver-tin alloy charm. Connected by an elastic cord to a stainless steel ring, it encircles the heads of the dragon and serpent at both ends. This serves as a modern alternative to the ancient rope-tying method, and additionally offers a protective function with the charm. The bangle's exterior showed severe oxidation after its removal from the pagoda. Before the antique dealer brought it to Taiwan for sale, it was handled by someone. The outermost layer of aged, eroded oxidation was meticulously removed by hand... Judging from the remaining reddish-brown oxidized copper areas, its age is likely over a century...
