This wheel-thrown chawan was made in my small pottery studio in Taiwan.
To add interest and aide holding comfort I faceted the lower section as the clay was drying.
I used local Taiwanese clay and then applied a black matte glaze. After taking the bowl from the kiln, I was pleased to find a beautiful glaze drip that pooled at the base of the pot. I was lucky that this glaze didn't drip further and melt onto a kiln shelf.
This bowl is quite large measuring 16 cm in length and standing 9.5 cm in height.
Be the owner of a handmade tea bowl from the amazing island of Taiwan.
