🌞 Introductory Workshop Details
--------------------
Designed for those who wish to experience leather crafting without a significant time commitment, this introductory course offers a relaxed approach to creating your own leather goods. It's ideal for first-timers or anyone looking to craft a heartfelt gift. We've prepared the materials, completing about 70% of the work, making the crafting process remarkably straightforward and enjoyable. You'll learn two fundamental hand-stitching techniques: punching stitch holes with a diamond chisel and the saddle stitch. All other construction details are handled by our studio.
For example, with an ID card holder, we'll pre-apply the protective film, smooth the leather edges, and complete the initial stitching to secure the film. All leather pieces will be assembled and adhered, leaving you to complete the final round of stitching. Despite its simplicity, our extensive teaching experience suggests that beginners typically need 1.5 to 2.5 hours to complete this project.
Should you wish to create more or learn additional techniques, consider booking an advanced workshop.

🌞 Material Spotlight
--------------------
This item is crafted from vegetable-tanned cowhide. Vegetable-tanned leather is known for its firm texture and durability. In Taiwan's early industrial days, before plastics became widespread, this material was used in numerous applications, such as drive belts for machinery, bicycle saddles, and various agricultural and military accessories.

A distinctive characteristic of vegetable-tanned leather is its natural evolution in color. Exposure to air and sunlight causes the tannins within the leather to react, gradually deepening its hue. The natural oils from your hands and friction from daily use contribute to a lustrous patina over time. This process allows leather goods made from vegetable-tanned hide to develop a unique character that evolves with the user and time, which is precisely why it's beloved by handcrafted leather enthusiasts.

Cattle are primarily raised for meat and dairy, making leather a byproduct of the livestock industry. Consequently, ranchers don't prioritize protecting the animals' skin. This means that during their lives, cattle may acquire marks from insect bites, scratches, or thorns. Free-roaming animals might bear brands, while older animals develop natural lines and wrinkles. In some cases, scars from veterinary procedures, such as C-sections for difficult births, may also be present. During the slaughter process, skinning can also leave marks. These natural imperfections are faithfully retained on the leather when it's transformed into a finished product, serving as a testament to the animal's life. Therefore, encountering these marks on leather goods is a sign of genuine, unprocessed leather, free from artificial coatings.

Many Taiwanese leather brands avoid vegetable-tanned leather with natural markings, often opting for processed leather that has been sanded and coated for a cleaner appearance. At DOZI Leather Crafts, we embrace these natural traces of the cow's life. Unless they are excessively large, we don't deliberately avoid using them. As the leather ages, deepening in color and developing a sheen from use, these inherent marks, combined with signs of wear, contribute to the piece's unique character.
🌞 Color Selection

The colors shown are actual photographs of the leather. Slight variations may occur due to lighting during photography and screen display settings. To ensure clarity and avoid any misunderstandings, we are happy to provide free leather samples upon request.

🌞 Care and Maintenance
--------------------
Regular use is the best form of care. It is important to avoid exposing the leather to humid environments. If the leather becomes wet, immediately wipe it dry with a clean cloth and allow it to air dry in a cool, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight, which can cause the leather to harden and deteriorate. Once dry, you may apply a leather conditioning oil to replenish its moisture or spray it with a waterproofing agent for added protection against accidental spills. For storage or extended periods of non-use, place the item in a dehumidifying cabinet set between 50% and 60% humidity to prevent mold, or use a sealed bag with a desiccant pack for similar protection. Periodically apply conditioning oil during storage to prevent the leather from drying out and cracking.

Workshop Description
Notes
1. A selected time slot indicates your preferred workshop time. Our team will contact you to confirm the actual session, which may be adjusted based on instructor availability and material preparation. If we cannot accommodate your preferred time due to our circumstances, a full refund will be issued. In cases of unavoidable events such as severe weather, government mandates, epidemics, or natural disasters, your payment will be held, and a new session will be arranged through mutual agreement.
2. This booking is for individual sessions at our studio location. For corporate events, school groups, business functions, or brand activities requiring on-site instruction, please contact us directly to make separate arrangements. Do not proceed with booking here.
3. Complimentary letter stamps (uppercase letters, numbers, and symbols) are available for DIY stamping during your session. However, value-added services like laser engraving or hot foil stamping must be completed before leather pieces are assembled and are therefore not available during workshop bookings.
4. A one-year warranty is provided from the date of purchase, covering repairs and maintenance at our store. Except for damages caused by human factors, repair services will be free of charge. After one year, complimentary leather maintenance will still be offered, with a nominal fee applied for repairs.
5. Our studio prefers natural leather materials. The cowhide we use undergoes minimal processing and surface coating, meaning it may exhibit variations in color, texture, and natural markings. If a perfectly flawless surface is a requirement, this material may not be suitable, and we cannot accommodate requests for "flawless leather." Should you have specific ideas or needs regarding workshop materials on-site, please arrange for a separate booking, as transportation compensation cannot be provided.
