Hello everyone! I am Koizumi Marie. Because of my parents’ work requirement, I went to Katsushika-ku, Tokyo, Japan together with my parents when I was 15 years old. My neighbor is a cobbler with more than a decade of experience, Nakazawa. I always stay at home as my parents go to work, and I would go to watch Nakazawa make leather products when I have time. His room is full of the smell of leather. He pays much attention to the leather texture and details, and always chooses top leather from Tochigi Prefecture and uses carefully selected hardware. All processes from the leather cutting, dyeing, grinding and sutures are handmade out. I cannot believe that a piece of cow leather can become various types of purses, handbags, accessories and so forth after repeated processing and making. I got to like the leather production. Nakazawa is a very nice man, and he began to teach me some simple production when he saw I am interested in the handmade leather goods. During three years in Japan, I became a little cobbler, and I started to make some small things of my own design. After returning home, I rented a small studio near my house, and I will make leather products in the studio once I have time off. Due to the influence of Nakazawa, the leather I make also has the Japanese style.
