[about s/ash & para//el]

slash and parallel is founded by Sharon O.W. Yeung and Vincent C.Y. Woo.
slash and parallel is born to strive for their passion of scent design to create the vibe, and let you totally fall into the illusion. The scent-related creations are candles, wax melts, reed diffusers and room sprays. All products are produced in Hong Kong by Sharon and Vincent.

Sharon and Vincent also own Shabibi Sheep Workshop, the artisan fair-faced concrete brand founded in 2015 and s/ash & para//el is the next chapter.

The first candle made was a concrete candle in 2017 for Christmas. In 2018 Sharon and Vincent spent half a year designing the scents based on their own feelings and the touch of the concrete shades and patterns by the brand. They also blended a special formulated wax to match with the characteristics of concrete and hand poured the candles. A collection of 6 concrete candles became one of the signature creations by Shabibi Sheep Workshop.

Since then, the interest in scent design has grown and during the past few years, Sharon and Vincent explored in different fields as well such as commissioned product designs, art work creations and interior design projects. They would like to share their sense of aesthetics to the public so people can appreciate all forms of art and beauty. In order to unleash their skills and achieve that goal, the new brand - s/ash & para//el is born.

Our scent design is inspired by Albert Einstein - “The distinction between past, present, and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion.”


Past, present and future are intertwined.

The present is shaped by what we have experienced in the past; what we are experiencing now is affecting the future.
It’s all about memory.
We carry the memory from the past to live at any moment.

Scent can revive memories that have been long forgotten.
Do you really believe the memory retrieved was something actually happened?
Sometimes your memory may be blurry or even differ from time to time.
Now that, is the picture in your memory real or just an illusion?

We design the scent to create the vibe, let you fall into the illusion.

In parallel with the “reality” - past, present, and future, we should allow ourselves to have a brief respite:
to fantasize the characters from the story tales coming to live to comfort us
to fantasize there are always miracles amongst us
to fantasize we are living in utopia which everything is just perfect
This is not escaping from the real world but relax from the pressures from daily life.

recollection series

Recollection - is a very personal journey, searching for that pinch of memory in the mind. The result might differ from time to time, affected by one’s emotion. Each journey will be unique, even with what has happened.

We often say “scent can revive memories that have been long forgotten.”
But when it comes to the memory of scent
how can you be so sure the scent in the memory is alike the scent at this moment
while the memory has been buried for quite awhile

this series

THIS - is the moment which you think is the present. You are the one who define THIS.

The previous second is the past; The next second is the future
The first half second is also past; The second half is also the future
If you split a second into 3 parts
Then you can experience the “past / present / future” in THIS second
