Welcome to SHOVAVA!
My name is Roza Khamitova, I am the creative force behind the artistry of Shovava - a clothing line I launched in 2011 from the majestic and magical Byron Bay in Australia. Originally a native of Kazakhstan, my designs and patterns draw inspiration from nature's beauty, but are also infused with my own sense, understanding and admiration of the infinite qualities of the human spirit. My ideas are born of long solitary walks in the jungle, through bristling fields or along almost pin-drop quiet stretches of sand. I have many kinds of birds visiting me everyday. Shovava's trademark winged scarfs reflect that soaring imagination and embody a sense of individuality, power, freedom, and adventure.
My scarves are created using age-old artists' techniques of draftsmanship and painting combined with the marvels of the latest technology. While I sketch, draw, paint and digitally work on all my designs here in my Byron Bay studio, my scarves are digitally printed by a lovely team in India, people who have become part of our family. The artwork is printed using the latest digital textile printers in a very meticulous and careful process that ensures the product retains all of the feel and details of my hand painted originals.
You can wear the scarves in endless ways. They work as a classic wrap/shawl or as a bandana. To turn one into a top, simply wrap it around your body, seeing how you want to display the art and then neatly tuck it in. The same applies to using one as a skirt. For a halter top, just pull two corners across your chest and tie them at the back of the neck.
These scarfs have been created for you by an adventurous spirit. I hope you wear them in adventurous ways.
