SAN-HE TILE KILN is based in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, and is the only traditional kiln factory still in industrial production.
With at least one hundred years of history, SAN-HE TILE KILN has endeavored to maintain firing bricks and tiles the traditional way despite the process being more complex compared to electrical kilns. The production has also extended from traditional bricks and tiles to the development of culturally themed products, souvenirs and gifts that integrate traditional motifs and brick carving techniques into the designs. Hands-on workshops and guided tours are also available as a part of the repertoire of activities that sustain the fervor of traditional kiln history and culture.

Mr. Lee Chun-Hung, the fourth-generation kiln owner of SAN-HE TILE KILN, has a dedication to traditional culture. He grew up with his family elders amongst the hustle and bustle of the kiln-firing business and could not bear to see the family business come to an end. Thus he decided to give up his high-paying job of thirty years at the bank and take over the family business to transform this sunset industry into a renewed business which contributes to Taiwan’s architectural and cultural heritage. Through Mr. Lee’s passion, SAN-HE TILE KILN is able to spread the heart-warming stories of culture and artistry of traditional tiles, bricks and brick carving to people all around the world.
